Two seminars followed by one another held on 19th November, 2014 in AIUB Auditorium under the seminar series named “Post Graduate Seminar Series” organized by Dept. of EEE, in order to inspire the students towards innovation. Post-graduate students with some of the enthusiastic undergraduate students attended program. The students will be highly beneficial with this approach.
Mr. Ebad Zahir (Assistant Professor & Dept. Special Assistant, Department of EEE) hosted the seminar by welcoming the seminar attendees emphasizing on attending seminars to learn about new inventions and current technologies. After that, the esteemed speaker, Ms. Ivy Saha Roy took the first seminar on “Dilute Bismides Alloys for Optoelectronic Devices”. New semiconductor materials, more specifically the heaviest group V and least studied bismuth containing compounds have potential applications in electronics, optoelectronics, and thermoelectric field. The speaker emphasized on the pros stating that dilute bismides offer large bandgap bowing in valence band by shifting up the valence band edge which in turn proffers a grand freedom to engineer band structure of semiconductors for potential high-speed electronic and infrared optoelectronic applications.
The second seminar was taken by the esteemed speaker Dr Tanmoy Debnath on the topic “Video Streaming Over Wireless Local Area Networks”. Different types of video streaming applications such as Video on Demand (VoD), real-time and near real-time video streaming and MMS were discussed by the speaker. This presentation will demonstrate the effect of the parameters: Wireless Communications, Video Streaming & Network Engineering on video delivery.
The seminar was concluded by Mr. Rinku Basak (Assistant Professor & Head, Postgraduate Program, Department of EEE) in which he thanked both the speakers and students for attending the seminars and he also talked about selecting the best materials for semiconductor devices, which may enhance the performance of electronic device. Then Mr. Farhadur Arifin(Assistant Professor, Department of EEE) talked about the importance of having proper objective of research work. The seminar was graced with presence of Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan(Associate Professor & Head, Undergraduate Program, Department of EEE) & Mr. Amzad Ali Sarkar(Assistant Professor, Department of EEE).
