Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain has been working as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, American International University-Bangladesh since 1st April, 2008. As Dean, he is involved in teaching, research, curriculum development, faculty development, laboratory development, quality monitoring of teaching-learning process, outreach programs development, counseling and motivating both UG and PG students for their productive career development. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering (Ph.D.) from National Technical University of Athens, Greece in November 1978. He completed Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Nuclear Technology from Islamabad University, Islamabad, Pakistan in December 1971. Dr. Hossain finished his Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1969.
Prof. Hossain worked as an Assistant  Electrical Engineer in Pakistan and later Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission just after graduation from BUET and underwent extensive training for working in a Nuclear Power Station, focusing on electrical power control devices at Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology (PINSTECH) and Atomic Energy Center, Dhaka, Bangladesh from May 1970 to February 1973. On 1st  March 1973, he joined in the EEE department of BUET as a lecturer and worked there till November 1974 when he was awarded with an opportunity in Research studies under a Greek Govt. Scholarship from November 1974 to November 1978. Dr. Hossain returned to BUET in December 1978 and worked there  as an Assistant Professor, as an Associate Professor and as a Professor till March, 2008. During his long teaching career,he offered courses in Communication Engg., basic as well as advanced Electronics, Transmission and Distribution of Electrical Energy, Power stations and Substations, Electrical circuits etc. to 3rd year and 4th year classes of B.Sc.Engg., Information theory, Advanced Telecommunication Engg., Antennas & Propagation, Wireless & Cellular mobile Communications, etc. to Masters in Telecommunication, EEE students  and organized their laboratories. He supervised final year undergraduate projects and M.Sc.Engg. thesis in the area of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. He moved in as a visiting Professor and Head, dept. of Electrical & Electronic Engg., University of Maiduguri in Nigeria during August 1986 to September 1987. He also worked as a Visiting Professor, dept. of Electrical & Electronic Engg. at Bright Star University of Technology, Brega, Libya, from October 1987 to August 1989. During April 1991-May1993, he was appointed as the Dean of Faculty of Electrical and Electronic  Engg. of BUET. As Dean, he has also worked as Head of Computer Science & Engg. dept. for about two  years. Prof. Hossain was later appointed as the Head of the dept. of EEE in BUET during the October 1994-October 1996 period when he was involved in teaching, research, in general administration and development of the department. From March 1997 to February 2001, he was associated as the Director of Computer Center (now IICT), BUET. He also worked as a Visiting Professor in the EEE dept. of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) from January to December, 2002.
He supervised a number of Ph.D. thesis and has more than 50 publications in international conference proceedings and journals. He is a senior member of IEEE, Life fellow of Institution of Engineers-Bangladesh (IEB) and Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS). He was the Chairman of IEEE Bangladesh section during the years 1997 to 2000 and received IEEE millennium award for his contribution to promote electrical engineering. His current research interest is electronics (both analog & digital), computers, wireless communications, 3G and Beyond (4G/LTE), energy issues for sustainable development etc.  
 
Prof. Hossain has been associated with numerous organizations as consultant and researcher. Some of them are:
·         Consultancy services to Nodak International Ltd.,a private consulting firm in Dhaka for their various electrical engineering projects, especially on design of electrical distribution system in rural areas of Bangladesh under Rural Electrification Board( REB).
·         Worked on the improvement in the design of a.c. single phase capacitor start ceiling fans manufactured by Metallex Corporation Ltd., an enterprise of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation.
·         Worked on the development of a statistical charge predictive model for the control and simulation of the refining process of the chittagong steel mill, the biggest steel mill in Bangladesh.
·         Offered lectures in short courses, conducted tutorials , workshops and laboratories etc. on digital techniques, microprocessor applications, communication engineering, solar home systems etc. organized  by the EEE dept. for outside practicing engineers.
·         Worked on the development of curriculum and laboratory experiments, preparation of equipment list with specifications, book list, laboratory lay-out etc. for a number of Universities/Institutes including Islamic Institute of Technology (currently IUT), an Institute of Organization of Islamic Conference(OIC).
·         Worked as a member in innumerable number of Govt. committees of Power Development Board, Rural Electrification Board, BTTB and other organizations involved in telecommunications, ICT etc.
·         Involved as an expert member from BUET to work on International Long Distance Telecommunication Services (ILDTS) policy 2007 framed by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to regulate overseas calls including  VoIP operations in the country.
